Love it or Leave It: Lip Products

I was recently going through my makeup collection and realized that I have a lot of lip products so I figured I would share with you which products I thought were worth the money and what ones I could do without.

from left to right: Tea & Cookies, Pink Lust, Sway, Vintage, Stone Fox

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks ($10.00)

NYX became available in my city around 6 months ago (roughly) and it’s safe to say my obsession with this brand is unreal. The liquid suede cream lipsticks were the first product I tried by NYX after receiving Pink Lust in my March Ipsy bag. After trying that I went out and purchased Sway and Vintage. Vintage quickly became a staple colour I wore constantly. I love the colour pay off of most of the ones I’ve tried and don’t regret buying any of them except Stone Fox, it doesn’t seem to have the same pay off as the others and it looks more blue than grey.

from left to right: Ibiza, Stockholm, Istanbul, Prague

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams ($9.00)

I love these, straight up! I love how soft they feel on my lips and how amazing the colour pay off. The color you see is exactly the colour you get. I love how small they are as well because they are perfect to throw in your book bag or purse or clutch and they don’t take up much space. These are some of my top lip products I own right now!

left to right: Honeymoon, Bedtime Flirt

NYX Lip Lingerie ($9.00)

These just became available in my city about a month ago and I know quite a few people who swear by these. I bought Honeymoon (a brown nude) and Bedtime Flirt (a pink nude) and I must say I’m not disappointed. I tend to grab Bedtime Flirt before Honeymoon but both are awesome colours. My only complaint about these is that there isn’t a wide range of nudes in the collection. They all look fairly similar which I’m upset about because the formula is amazing!

from top to bottom: L.U.V, Echo, Lolita, Bow N Arrow

Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick ($20.00)

In my opinion, these lipsticks are some of the best on the market, for the most part. I only have 4 (for now) of the collection (I believe there are 24 colours total) and I still keep gravitating towards them no matter how many times I try to broaden my horizons with lipsticks. The only colour I “regret” (I use regret loosely) is Echo because it isn’t the blue I wanted, however, it’s still a beautiful colour. The formula of these lipsticks are long lasting and doesn’t dry out my lips.

from left to right: Roach, Bang, After Dark

Urban Decay Lipsticks ($21.00 approx.)

I love Urban Decay, everyone knows that, however,  I can’t decide if I love their lipsticks. I find both Bang and After Dark very drying and the formula isn’t that great. Roach on the other hand,  is one of my favourite lipsticks ever. It’s a beautiful cream lipstick whereas Bang and After Dark are both matte. Overall, while I love Roach, I don’t think these lipsticks are worth the price.

from left to right: 105, 107, 110, 45

Kate Moss for Rimmel London Long Lasting Lipsticks ($7.00 approx.)

These are some of my favourite drugstore lipsticks! For the longest time, I was constantly reaching for 105 because it was the perfect wine colour for fall or winter. The only one I wouldn’t suggest getting would be number 45 from the nude collection because the colour payoff isn’t great, you can barely tell a difference from before you put it on to after. Overall for $7.00 you can’t go wrong with these lipsticks.

April 2016 Favourites

So looking back on past posts I’ve realized I never posted my favourites for the month of March (whoops) but I picked up a product or two that I’ve been loving for April so lets talk about those instead!

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Classic Ivory

Ok at first I was a little iffy on this foundation, not going to lie. However after using it for the month of April it’s become a favourite of mine. I love the medium to build-able coverage and when I blend this foundation in with my beauty blender my skin looks flawless and I have actually received quite a bit of compliments wearing this foundation. One of my all time favourite things about this foundation is I don’t have to set it with powder.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in fair

You can see my dark circles from across the room because as a university student, I don’t know what sleep is. This concealer not only cover my dark circles but brighten up my under eye area by creating a nice highlight. Add some setting powder on top of the concealer and you are set for the day!

I’ve mentioned the Kate Moss lipsticks before in my February favourites and while my opinion hasn’t changed, my collection has! I went from owning 1 to 5 in just a few short months! Recently I’ve been reaching for these instead of my higher end lipsticks!

Favourites: January 2016

The month is over which means it’s time for our monthly favourites. I have a few products I have been loving this month (as well as products I’ve loved for longer).

1: Kat Von D Monarch Pallet ($46.00)

I just posted a review for this pallet (you can read it here) and honestly what more can I say? The colours are gorgeous and I’ve been reaching for this pallet a lot this month!

2: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in L.U.V ($20.00)

I don’t want to talk too much about this product because I will be writing a review on it but what you need to know is this liquid lipstick is everlasting! I put it on before I left for a night out and I drank and ate and when I came home 5 hours later it was still as bright and beautiful as when I put it on! I love that it goes on as a gloss but dries matte!

3. Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lasting Finnish Matte (not sure of price)

This is the first matte lip colour I’ve ever purchased and I haven’t regretted it! I love the feel of the lipstick and it doesn’t dry out your lips. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality considering it is a drugstore brand but that just proves that the more expensive isn’t always better!

4. Benefit Gimme Brow in medium/dark brown ($24.00)

I have searched high and low for a product to get my crazy brows under control and the only product I keep going back to is Gimme Brow. I love the way this gel doesn’t leave my brows feeling strange, it feels like my regular brows which is awesome! I love that it’s tinted because, while my brows are thick, there are sparse areas that I can thankfully fill with a sweep of Gimme Brow. I started using this product in the summer of 2015 and I haven’t gone back since!

5. MOODmatcher Lipstick ($4.00)

I received this in my December Ipsy bag and I was immediately drawn to it (not even sorry). It goes on clear and changes colour depending on your “mood” (I think it’s really just your body temperature but I honestly don’t know). This lipstick was my favourite thing from my December Ipsy bag and I still use it constantly! I love that I never know what shade I’m going to get (I usually get a pink or berry colour).

6. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation  in Natural Ivory (not sure of price)

I bought this foundation MONTHS ago and only recently did I start reaching for it instead of my Lancome foundation. That being said, this is the best foundation I have ever had! The coverage is amazing and natural and I actually have come to prefer it over my Lancome (which I paid around $55.00 for!). I have a lot of redness and this foundation covers it while still giving me a matte look, I will defiantly be repurchasing this one after I run out!

7. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($6.49)

I love everything Neutrogena has for their makeup removing line so naturally I’ve bought these loads of times. They remove even my most stubborn makeup and don’t leave an oily residue on my skin.

8. Smashbox Contour Kit ($45.00)

I am very new at contouring and honestly this step-by-step kit is my saving grace. I love that it’s a powder so I can easily erase (blend out) my mistakes and I have already hit pan on the contour shade. If you are a beginner at contouring or what to try out a powder contour kit I defiantly suggest this one! You can read Sylvie’s review for this kit here!
