Sephora Haul + First Impression

I recently made a Sephora order which resulted in me becoming VIB (which I’m pretty pumped about), although my bank account isn’t as pumped. Anyways…I’ve had these products for a few months and have finally gathered my opinion on them so here we go!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Face Contour Refillable Palette ($64.00 CAD)

IMG_5786

I love this contour pallet, although I wish there was a highlighter in it. I love that all the shades are very blendable and able to give a flawlessly chiseled look. One thing I have noticed about this pallet though is you only need a little bit of product, trust me it goes a long way!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette  ($62.00 CAD)

img_5785.jpg

I love the idea of having a contour palette for my eyes (is that weird? Like I know you can just use regular shadows to achieve it but I just love that I own an eye contour palette) anyways…I love the pigmentation of these shades! I am able to do very versatile looks with the different shades but again a little goes a long way!

Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette ($60.00 CAD)

img_5789.jpg

Can we just take a second to appreciate how f*cking gorgeous this palette is?! Honestly, I bought it because I wanted to try a Tarte palette and I liked the colour scheme of this one and oh my god I’m so happy I did! I love this palette and it’s quickly become one of my most used palettes! The colours are pigmented and very blendable, def a favourite!

Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette ($59.00 CAD)

IMG_5791

I was fighting with myself over if I wanted the Chocolate Bar palette or if I wanted the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette but I ended up going for the original (obviously) and honestly…I’m so happy I did. I own a lot of neutral palettes but I still find myself reaching for this one over a lot of my other one!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Peach-Infused Highlighting Palette ($52.00 CAD)

img_5787.jpg

I was so excited about this product and unfortunately, I’m a little disappointed. I only use the one on the far left because I find it’s the only one that gives me a beautiful highlight however the blush shade isn’t bad, it’s just not my favourite (but at least it smells good!).

SEPHORA Collection Cream Lip Stain in 13 Marvelous Mauve ($18.00 CAD)

IMG_5792

I love this lip product, the only thing I will say is (since it’s a stain) it tries darker than the product in the bottle and it stays a little tacky so you can feel in on your lips but it’s such a nice product that I still find myself reaching for it. It is dry but not as drying as the Colourpop Matte Liquid Lipsticks which I find very drying!

Love it or Leave It: Lip Products

I was recently going through my makeup collection and realized that I have a lot of lip products so I figured I would share with you which products I thought were worth the money and what ones I could do without.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks ($10.00)

NYX became available in my city around 6 months ago (roughly) and it’s safe to say my obsession with this brand is unreal. The liquid suede cream lipsticks were the first product I tried by NYX after receiving Pink Lust in my March Ipsy bag. After trying that I went out and purchased Sway and Vintage. Vintage quickly became a staple colour I wore constantly. I love the colour pay off of most of the ones I’ve tried and don’t regret buying any of them except Stone Fox, it doesn’t seem to have the same pay off as the others and it looks more blue than grey.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams ($9.00)

I love these, straight up! I love how soft they feel on my lips and how amazing the colour pay off. The color you see is exactly the colour you get. I love how small they are as well because they are perfect to throw in your book bag or purse or clutch and they don’t take up much space. These are some of my top lip products I own right now!

dsc_0332

left to right: Honeymoon, Bedtime Flirt

NYX Lip Lingerie ($9.00)

These just became available in my city about a month ago and I know quite a few people who swear by these. I bought Honeymoon (a brown nude) and Bedtime Flirt (a pink nude) and I must say I’m not disappointed. I tend to grab Bedtime Flirt before Honeymoon but both are awesome colours. My only complaint about these is that there isn’t a wide range of nudes in the collection. They all look fairly similar which I’m upset about because the formula is amazing!

from top to bottom: L.U.V, Echo, Lolita, Bow N Arrow

Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick ($20.00)

In my opinion, these lipsticks are some of the best on the market, for the most part. I only have 4 (for now) of the collection (I believe there are 24 colours total) and I still keep gravitating towards them no matter how many times I try to broaden my horizons with lipsticks. The only colour I “regret” (I use regret loosely) is Echo because it isn’t the blue I wanted, however, it’s still a beautiful colour. The formula of these lipsticks are long lasting and doesn’t dry out my lips.

dsc_0340

from left to right: Roach, Bang, After Dark

Urban Decay Lipsticks ($21.00 approx.)

I love Urban Decay, everyone knows that, however,  I can’t decide if I love their lipsticks. I find both Bang and After Dark very drying and the formula isn’t that great. Roach on the other hand,  is one of my favourite lipsticks ever. It’s a beautiful cream lipstick whereas Bang and After Dark are both matte. Overall, while I love Roach, I don’t think these lipsticks are worth the price.

dsc_0345

from left to right: 105, 107, 110, 45

Kate Moss for Rimmel London Long Lasting Lipsticks ($7.00 approx.)

These are some of my favourite drugstore lipsticks! For the longest time, I was constantly reaching for 105 because it was the perfect wine colour for fall or winter. The only one I wouldn’t suggest getting would be number 45 from the nude collection because the colour payoff isn’t great, you can barely tell a difference from before you put it on to after. Overall for $7.00 you can’t go wrong with these lipsticks.

September 2016 Monthly Favourites

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a favourites post but that’s because I haven’t had many favourites that were new between the months of June and August. However, September has seen a few new favourites that I’m excited to share with you! So without further ado, let’s get to it!

Sephora Haul + First Impressions

Recently I made my first Sephora order (crazy I know) and I have already fallen in love with every product I’ve ordered!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Lolita and Bow N Arrow ($24.00 CAD)

I have raved about these liquid lipsticks before so it’s no surprise that they found their way into my basket. I feel like you can’t own one of Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks without owning Lolita so after very little debate with myself I added it to my basket and quickly feel in love with Bow N Arrow which also found itself in my basket before I even had time to think. I won’t go into a lot of detail about these because I’ve already talked about them in depth in this post but I can assure you that trying one of these is something you will not regret! I am a big fan of Kat Von D Beauty, especially since they are cruelty-free and never test on animals!

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Queen B ($25.00 CAD)

I’ve wanted to try the Melted Lipsticks from Too Faced for a while so I decided to add one to my basket. My first impression of this product is that it’s a long wear liquid lipstick that is very pigmented however I found it left a sticky residue on my lips. It felt more like a gloss than a lipstick which threw me off a bit. However, the amount of compliments I got on the colour (plus how much I loved the colour myself) made it worth the price to me even though I’m still unsure whether or not I’ll be repurchasing this product in the future.

Edit: I wore this lipstick for a night out and to work and my entire view on this product has changed, I will certainly be purchasing again! There is very little transfer and the colour stay pigmented, even with eating and drinking!

Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blush in Your Love Is King ($32.00 CAD)

I honestly couldn’t believe I spent $32 on a blush but once I saw this blush in action, I realised I would have paid a lot more!I actually bought the wrong one, I meant to buy How Deep Is Your Love however I’m not even mad that I accidently ordering Your Love Is King  love this blush! The colour is perfect, it has amazing pigmentation and is easy to blend.

I also received 3 samples that I can’t wait to try!

Urban Decay NAKED ILLUMINATED Shimmering Powder for Face and Body in Aura ($35.00 CAD)

I didn’t order this from Sephora but was given it from a friend who felt the product just wasn’t for him. Originally I didn’t even pay much attention to the product itself, I focused more on the fact that I was getting an Urban Decay product (that I’ve wanted to try) for free! Now the actual product is full of shimmer which is to be expected from a shimmering powder and I won’t lie, I’m kind of in love with this! It’s perfect for that hint of shimmer for a night out!

June 2016 Favourites

I realize I haven’t posted anything in a while and for that I’m sorry. Here are my favourites for the month of June (and honestly some of them I’ve been loving them for a lot longer!).

1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in the shade 1.5 ($40.00)

This is my first high end foundation and it’s become a quick favourite of mine. It gives me the right amount of coverage while remaining buildable if needed. I love the feel of it on my skin, or rather the fact that I can’t feel it on my skin. I put foundation on in the morning and go to work (I work at an Afterschool program where I run around with kids) then after work, I go to the gym and sweat and I swear this foundation do not move. It stays all day and you honestly don’t need to set it ( I usually don’t). The only downfall for me with this foundation is it’s very liquidy but if that’s what you are looking for then this is for you!

2. Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($36.00)

I recently purchases this bronzer when I was visiting my sister in Ontario and I love it! I often use this with whatever I’m using to contour with for an over all healthy glow. I also really love the brush that comes with it.

3. Smashbox Full Exposure Water Proof Mascara ($22.00)

I LOVE THIS MASCARA! I have mentioned before how I have zero eye lashes and how much my lashes suck however this mascara does wonders for me! It’s lengthens and adds volume to my lashes and I actually look like I have lashes for once in my life. This is my holy grail mascara and I honestly don’t think I will ever purchase a different mascara in my life. I will warn you though, this mascara is different then the regular full exposure mascara from the brush to the formula however both are amazing.

4. Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Now Perfume ($52.00)

When I went to Victoria’s Secret a few weeks ago they were having a special that if you bought a bra and panty set you received a free perfume so naturally I had to do that. I chose the Very Sexy Now perfume and I am in love with it! The notes for this perfume are coconut water, pink lotus and warm sand accord so it’s essentially summer in a bottle. To me this perfume is exactly what I think about when I think of a beach day.

5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm ($9.00)

I’ve been looking at the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for a while and finally caved when they were on sale from $9 to $7 at my local Shoppers. I had a difficult time choosing between London and Stockholm and finally decided to try Stockholm and I am so happy I did. I love this lip cream. The feel of it on my lips is soft and it dries beautifully. I will definitely be purchasing more of these in the near future!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks

As mentioned in my Monarch review and my monthly favourites I recently fell in love with Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and I just had to write a review! These bad boys sell for $20.00 CAD and they are worth it! I own L.U.V but I have tried two other colours (who’s names are escaping me right now but I know I loved them!) and I was blown away by how incredible they were!

DSC_0077

L.U.V is a beautiful bright purple. I am all about colours (I will wear blue eyeshadow with blue mascara I don’t care) so when I opened the packaging and saw this beauty I was in love! Now I know most people are nervous of brighter colours but let me assure you, anyone can rock this colour! The website describes these lipsticks as “THE life-proof lipstick that will not wear off! Yes, you can eat, drink, make up, break up and mouth-off knowing your lips are gonna stay flawless through it all!” and they are right! I put this on at the beginning of the night and went I came home at 2 am (the party animal that I am) it was still as bright and in place as it was when I left.

There are 25 incredible shades left so be sure to get at least one in your makeup bag before they are all sold out! I’m thinking about Vampira personally. Anyways these lipsticks are creamy and go on like a gloss but set to a beautiful matte finish. They are 24 hour wear and high pigment colour with natural moisturizers (including Vitamin E) and you don’t even feel it on your lips, how incredible is that? Plus all Kat Von D products are 100% cruelty free!

Favourites: January 2016

The month is over which means it’s time for our monthly favourites. I have a few products I have been loving this month (as well as products I’ve loved for longer).

1: Kat Von D Monarch Pallet ($46.00)

I just posted a review for this pallet (you can read it here) and honestly what more can I say? The colours are gorgeous and I’ve been reaching for this pallet a lot this month!

2: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in L.U.V ($20.00)

I don’t want to talk too much about this product because I will be writing a review on it but what you need to know is this liquid lipstick is everlasting! I put it on before I left for a night out and I drank and ate and when I came home 5 hours later it was still as bright and beautiful as when I put it on! I love that it goes on as a gloss but dries matte!

3. Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lasting Finnish Matte (not sure of price)

This is the first matte lip colour I’ve ever purchased and I haven’t regretted it! I love the feel of the lipstick and it doesn’t dry out your lips. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality considering it is a drugstore brand but that just proves that the more expensive isn’t always better!

4. Benefit Gimme Brow in medium/dark brown ($24.00)

I have searched high and low for a product to get my crazy brows under control and the only product I keep going back to is Gimme Brow. I love the way this gel doesn’t leave my brows feeling strange, it feels like my regular brows which is awesome! I love that it’s tinted because, while my brows are thick, there are sparse areas that I can thankfully fill with a sweep of Gimme Brow. I started using this product in the summer of 2015 and I haven’t gone back since!

5. MOODmatcher Lipstick ($4.00)

I received this in my December Ipsy bag and I was immediately drawn to it (not even sorry). It goes on clear and changes colour depending on your “mood” (I think it’s really just your body temperature but I honestly don’t know). This lipstick was my favourite thing from my December Ipsy bag and I still use it constantly! I love that I never know what shade I’m going to get (I usually get a pink or berry colour).

6. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation  in Natural Ivory (not sure of price)

I bought this foundation MONTHS ago and only recently did I start reaching for it instead of my Lancome foundation. That being said, this is the best foundation I have ever had! The coverage is amazing and natural and I actually have come to prefer it over my Lancome (which I paid around $55.00 for!). I have a lot of redness and this foundation covers it while still giving me a matte look, I will defiantly be repurchasing this one after I run out!

7. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($6.49)

I love everything Neutrogena has for their makeup removing line so naturally I’ve bought these loads of times. They remove even my most stubborn makeup and don’t leave an oily residue on my skin.

8. Smashbox Contour Kit ($45.00)

I am very new at contouring and honestly this step-by-step kit is my saving grace. I love that it’s a powder so I can easily erase (blend out) my mistakes and I have already hit pan on the contour shade. If you are a beginner at contouring or what to try out a powder contour kit I defiantly suggest this one! You can read Sylvie’s review for this kit here!
