Spring Favourites

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Modern Renaissance Pallet $55

I love the colour scheme of this pallet. There are so many looks that can be done and the pigments blend really well. This pallet is great because you can add a subtle pop of colour with some pink or red, ou can great a nude smokey eye, or you can go all out glitter.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Moonchild $40

I absolutely love colour highlight. My favourites are Purple Horseshoe and Pink Heart.

Hourglass – Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $56

I wear this foundation in the shade Alabaster. It blends very easily. I use one of those oval blending brushes and then go over my whole face with a beauty blender once I have contoured and put on concealer. Your face needs to be very well moisturized beforehand though, otherwise, the foundation can be very drying on your face.

Too Faced – Hangover Replenishing Face Primer $40

Who doesn’t love this face primer? It is the best. I have oily skin and I find it helps keep everything in balance.

Pixi – Glow Tonic $20

I use this after I wash my face in the morning. It helps to exfoliate my skin and keep my pores in check. My skin has improved since using this. I have noticed fewer breakouts and some of my blackheads are becoming less noticeable.

Glamglow – Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser $34

This cleanser is amazing. It starts out as mud but once you add water it becomes foam. It’s a gritty cleanser so it also helps to exfoliate my skin. I find this cleanser smells like toothpaste, which does not bother me but if it bothers you, you may want to stay away from this cleanser.

Adrienne’s June Favourites

Prada Candy Kiss: IMG_1744

I love the Prada Candy line so of course when I saw there was a new one I had to try it. I feel in love with the scent instantly. It’s the perfume I never knew I needed. It is sweet smelling without being too much and it has this seductive scent in it that is just really alluring. This product retails for $98 at Sephora for a 1.7 oz bottle.

Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara: IMG_1483

I bought a travel size of this mascara in a set by Sephora called Totally Obsessed Set (which is now out of stock). I did not instantly fall in love with this mascara, however once I tried it a few times I figured out how to make sure my lashes would not clump and would stay looking soft and fluffy. This mascara is amazing once you figure out what works best for you with application. I like to gently apply my mascara and then go through with a clean mascara brush to un-clump my lashes, then wait a few second for the mascara to dry a bit and then build my lashes up with more mascara. I recently bought the waterproof version of this mascara and I can’t wait to wear it when I go to the beach! This product retails for $30 at Sephora for a full size.

Urban Decay Naked Foundation: IMG_1730

I already wrote a review on this foundation so I will not go on a huge rant about it. However if you do not feel like reading my previous review all I will say is that this foundation is perfect for summer and for people who want a foundation that is light weight and has minimal coverage but is buildable. I fell in love with this foundation because it literally feels like there is nothing on your face and I do not worry about my skin becoming oily and breaking out. This foundation retails for $47 at Sephora.

Vichy Normaderm Corrective Anti Acne Treatment: IMG_1747

I wanted to try a moisturizer that would help my face feeling hydrated without getting oily so I was recommended this product by a beauty expert. She told me to wash my face at night and then put on this moisturizer, and then in the morning to just wipe my face with toner (I have been using cleansing water). There has definitely been a difference in my skins appearance and while my acne has not completely gone away my breakouts are becoming fewer and I find my skin has not been very oily for the past month. I have used Vichy products in the past and I am probably going to go back to using them exclusively. This product retails for $29.99 CAD

Adrienne’s May Favourites

Well I decided this summer that I would try to post more on our blog, starting with some monthly favourites. So here we go and hopefully you all like my choices or are inspired to try them yourselves.

Smashbox Full Exposer Mascara:

IMG_1480

I feel like this has been a favourite of all of ours on this blog. I started out with two sample sizes of this product in October and November and I recently just purchased the full size. This product is an absolute life saver. I am the type to constantly try new mascaras because who doesn’t love new mascaras but after I have been using this product I don’t think I could go back. It lengths my lashes, gives them depth and volume with no clumps. I do always brush my lashes out with a clean mascara brush to help separate my lashes but honestly there is barely any separation that  needs to happen.

IMG_1482

Of course I am still going to continue to test new mascaras out because honestly it’s just so fun but this will continue to be my go to. It works for every occasion and helps me achieve a natural eyelash look (I am blonde so my eyelashes are pretty light without mascara and I like having my eyelashes look a little bit darker while looking natural). This product retails for $25 on Sephora

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium:

IMG_2774

I purchased this product half way through May so I haven’t been using it for very long, however compared to the other brow products I have been using this is hands down the best. I love simple, easy to use products, especially if I am just doing something quick for my makeup. I use this product practically everyday now and my eyebrows feel naked with out it. This product is perfect for anyone who likes their brows to look a little more bold and firmly in place, while still looking natural and not like they’re overly done up.

IMG_2773

This product is a tinted brow volumizing fibre gel that helps make you eyebrows look put together. I have kind of splotchy eyebrows so I have a few little gaps where they hair is either not there or is super light (because I am blonde) and this product helps to fill that in and make them look even. I use the shade Light/Medium which is perfect for blonde’s (or light brunette’s) looking to get bolder, natural looking eyebrows. This product retails for $30 at Sephora.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken:

IMG_2776

The March Ipsy glam bag featured this product and two other colours (Kitten Heals and Pink Lust) . I received Kitten Heals; a bright red and when I tried it I instantly fell in love with the formula. However, I have lately been loving nude lip colours so when my local Shoppers Drug Mart started carrying NYX I knew I had to get more. I chose this colours because I like something a little darker than nude but still in the colour range. This product stays for about 4 + hours on my lips, even when I’m drinking. I’ve tried some of NYX’s other lip products but their Liquid Suede is my favourite line so far. It dries matte but it leaves your lips feeling soft and not overly dry looking. This product retails for $10 on the brands website.

Nude Dude eyeshadow pallet is the best kind of nude dude

IMG_2500

This is one of my favourite pallets next to the Naked pallets by Urban Decay. Playing on the pinup style from the 1950’s, this pallet amusingly plays on sexuality with its feature of ‘naked men’ under the eyeshadows; neutral tones from light to dark.

IMG_2501

My favourite shadow is “Flirty” which is a lighter purple with bits of gold flecks in it. There is are several matte shadows (Fearless, Fabulous, Flawless, and Feisty), and shimmer shadows (Faithful, Firm, Fit, Flirty, Friendly, Funny, Fierce, and Fine). These colours are all easy to use and blend beautifully.

The product retails for about $45 Canadian, but on their website it is listed at $36 American

I got this product at my local beauty store -before its recent closure :(- and one of the ladies working there recommended this product to me in replace of the Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow by Too Faced.  This product is definitely a good mach for that pallet, plus this one by The Balm comes with more colours and the gorgeous purple/gold shadow.

February Favourites

Luxie Beauty Flat Definer Brush 221: I received this makeup brush in my February ipsy bag, and I already own roughly 30 makeup brushes so it wasn’t like I needed the brush or anything, but it’s a great brush. This one specifically is for defined application, and cost $12.00 on their website, however you can purchase a set of 5 brushes for $45.00 on their website, as well. The bristles are extremely soft, and the brush itself is probably the prettiest brush I have ever owned and even looking at it makes me very happy. Also, the brushes I already owned cause a lot of static electricity when they come in contact with my hair, which the Luxie brushes don’t. AND, they’re cruelty free. #loveanimals

tea-tree-blemish-fade-night-lotion_l.jpg

Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion: I don’t have  a picture of this product, so I used a photo from The Body Shop’s website, which shows how often I use this product. Tea Tree is my favourite brand, so you’ll be seeing a lot of Tea Tree products form me with my favourites. This month, I’m writing about my absolute favourite product by them, the blemish fade night lotion. I’ve been buying this product for years. It’s a small bottle and costs $20.00 at The Body Shop, which can seem like a lot but it is so worth it. I apply it at night before bed and don’t wash it off until the next morning either when washing my face or showering. It cleans your pores overnight and diminishes the look of blemishes while you sleep! I don’t do anything extra other than one squirt or the lotion and rubbing it in (which feels great, by the way). The bottle will last me anywhere between 3 months- a year depending on how often I use it and how much I use per night.

Baléa 3 in 1 Cleansing Cloths: I like this product for similar reasons as to why I love the Tea Tree Lotion: because it’s easy to use with minimal effort. Whenever I go to a friends house or a friend comes to mine, I don’t really feel like going to the washroom and spending 10-20 minutes washing my face. What I do instead is grab a face wipe, and rub off all of my makeup using it. I replace washing my face with this product when washing just seems inconvenient. It’s also an eye makeup remover, so it works with taking off tough makeup, like mascara, eyeliner, and eyebrow products. It’s also very moisturizing and feels great when using it. The only downside is that it only comes with 15 wipes in a pack, so they don’t last long.

CoverGirl Clean Sensitive Skin Pressed Powder: This is the pressed powder that I have been using almost my whole walk with makeup. The reason behind this is because it is so cheap and still works! It’s made for sensitive skin, so my skin is never irritated when using it. It also evens out skin tones and red spots if you’ve got any, and has a flawless finish that does not make me look like I’m covered in makeup and is in fact looks very natural. I buy it at Walmart for $6.97 and one compact can last for 6 months- 1 year. As you can see in the picture, it’s time for me to get a new one. I literally use this product every day, because it looks so natural. Putting it on does not agree to a commitment of applying a whole face worth of makeup, because it blends right in.

Elizabeth Mott’s Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer

IMG_1285

This eye shadow primer is just WOW! The holy grail of all shadow primers. I received this primer in my December Ipsy bag and it has lasted me for about 2 months now. This primer from Elizabeth Mott is phenomenal. I usually do my makeup around 7-8am and it last me with no creases for at least 12 hours, even if I slightly rub my eyes. I have used samples of Urban Decay shadow primers and the Original is pretty close to having the same results but it’s just not as good. I also find that the Urban Decay Anti-Aging primer (which I accidentally grabbed instead of the Original at Sephora) and I find that that shadow primer doesn’t stop my shadow from creasing and within 4-5 hours my eyelids feel oily and my shadow  is just not having a good time.

I will definitely be repurchasing this product once I run out. I definitely am thanking Elizabeth Mott later every day.

This product retails for $20

Favourites: January 2016

1.  Tea Tree, Flawless BB Cream

This foundation is definitely my favourite that I’ve ever used, and Tea Tree is one of my favourite brands, so it makes sense that it would be on my favourites list. Tea Tree is amazing for oily, blemished skin, like mine. It’s age-defying, and I don’t break out using anything made by Tea Tree. It costs $18.00 CAN at The Body Shop, and is worth every penny. It leaves your skin looking matte and unnoticeable of any traces of foundation, unless of course if you’re using the wrong shade. They cost $4.63 CAN on their website, and once again, it’s worth every penny. I used to pay more than that for

2.  EOS, Evolution of Smooth

I’m one of those people who are constantly putting on lip chap, so it would make sense that I would have a lip chap on this list. EOS is by far my favourite lip chap. I used to use Burt’s Bees, however one day when my lips were extremely chapped and cracking, I needed something quick, and the shop I went to didn’t have any Burt’s Bees, so I grabbed the hottest new trend of lip chap: EOS. By the end of the day, my lips were perfectly fine, and after raving about it to a friend, she bought some herself and told me it was great! I haven’t ever regretted that decision, and I’m never looking back. They cost $4.63 CAN on their website, and once again, it’s worth every penny.

3.  Smashbox, Full Exposure Mascara

Like it says in my bio, I’m more of a natural girl, so a mascara that lengthens my eyelashes without any clumps is a must in order to maintain that “no makeup” look. The Smashbox Full Exposure mascara is exactly that. I got a sample in one of my Ipsy bags (which is what is in the picture), and I’ve loved it ever since. It costs $25.00 CAN for a full sized tube at Sephora, which can be a lot for mascara, so I only ever buy it when I want to treat myself.
