When contouring started to become popular in everyday makeup routines, I thought I would pick up a couple of contouring essentials for myself. After looking up a couple of different products, I decided upon the Smashbox contour kit available at the local Shoppers Drug Mart. It costs $52.00 CAN at Sephora and comes in two different skin tones, Light/Medium, and Medium/Dark.
I picked up the Light/Medium shade, and it came with an angled brush and visual guide on where to place which powders (bronzer, highlighter, and the contour shade). It was extremely helpful for me as a beginner, however the palette is still great for people who are not just starting out, as well. Don’t let the name fool you, this palette is for all experience levels.
The powder goes on fairly easily, and you do not need a lot to make a difference, so it lasts a long time. The powder stays on all day, even without using face primer or finishing spray. Since it’s a powder, it’s easy to apply a little to have subtle changes, or a lot to have a more noticeable look.
If anyone wanted to try contouring whether it be their first time, or it’s been their regular routine for years, I’d suggest the Smashbox Step-By-Step contour kit. It was a purchase that I do not regret and contouring has become a part of my every day routine.
